TRAVEL

Those of you travelling from outside the UK may need some advice on how to get to Llandudno. The nearest airports are Manchester and Liverpool, although there is also a direct rail connection from London Euston train station if you come into a London airport.

By Road:

Llandudno is served by the national motorway network and is located 3 miles off the A55 expressway. If travelling from the North and East follow signs for the M56 west to Chester and North Wales. Then follow the A55 west (Conwy). Come off the A55 at the sign posted Betsy-y-Coed/Llandudno exit (junction 19) and follow the trunk road (A470) into the town centre where you will find Venue Cymru on the Promenade.

By Rail:

Llandudno has two railway stations serving the town. Llandudno Junction is a mainline intercity stop on the Holyhead to London Euston line. The station is situated about 3 miles out of the town centre. Llandudno also has a branch line station situated in the town centre which is a short walk from the EG2011 Venue. A regular connecting train service does run between the two stations. You can get a taxi from Llandudno Junction to your hotel.

For more information and timetables go to www.thetrainline.com. Also, you can plan your train route (and print out a Pocket Timetable as a pdf) by going to www.nationalrail.co.uk.

Manchester International Airport is the most convenient UK entry point for EG2011, because the airport has a train station. There are several train-journey options that would take you to Llandudno. And the amount of changes that you would take on a train depends on the day (weekend or weekday) and time of day. The rail journey costs about £30 (one way).

One route is at the airport train station, take a train for Crewe, this journey will take approximately 20-30 minutes. At Crewe, change trains and take the train to Llandudno (approximately 1 hours 20 mins). Sometimes you need to go from Crewe to Chester (and change) then to Llandudno.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is another airport in the region. Take the shuttle bus from the airport to Liverpool city centre. It runs every 15 minutes. Airlink services also operate to the three nearest stations.

Suggest using Airlink 500 - Liverpool John Lennon Airport - Liverpool city centre circular (to Lime Street Station) (also MerseyTravel operates regular services between Liverpool airport and the city centre. The 500, 80A/180 and 82A/82B services all run into the city itself.)

Go to Liverpool Lime Street train station. Here look for the signs to the "Wirral Line", which is coloured green on maps of the Merseyrail network. You will need to take steps and an escalator below ground (not the main line train platforms at ground level). Catch a train for Chester, which departs every 30 minutes (other trains from the same stop go to Ellesmere Port, New Brighton and West Kirby - do not get on one of these!). Change at Chester and take the next available train for Llandudno or Llandudno Junction.

By Coach:

The National Express coach network serves Llandudno, more information can be found at their website.

Note: On Friday, April 15th, the coaches for airports are scheduled to leave Llandudno at 13.30. It will take 90-120 mins to get to Manchester or Liverpool Airport (drop off around 15.30).

By Air:

Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester International Airport are the two regional international airports nearest to Venue Cymru.

Parking & Taxis

Venue Cymru has a large pay and display car park to the rear of the building. For car parking rates please see the parking section of this website. There is a designated taxi / pick up point outside Venue Cymru on the promenade.

If you wish to travel by Taxi (private hire or hackney/black cabs) from Manchester airport then one way will be around £90 to £120 and Return about £220. This is for 1-3 people plus luggage. Charges are usually for the journey (sometimes a surcharge per person is added) thus it is best to go with other people so to split the cost.

If you wish to travel by Taxi (private hire or hackney/black cabs) from Liverpool airport then one way will be around £90 to £110 for a Saloon car with 3 to 4 people. Charges are usually for the journey (sometimes a surcharge per person is added) thus it is best to go with other people so to split the cost.

It is best to arrange and fix a price before starting the journey. (It is not good to go on meter – this will cost much more). Booking in advance is also recommended www.airporttaxis-uk.co.uk .
